Our Dialysis Treatment Process

Hemodialysis involves using a machine to filter wastes, salts, and fluid from the blood. The process starts with the creation of an access point in the patient’s arm, typically an arteriovenous fistula or graft. During a hemodialysis session, blood is drawn from the body, filtered through a dialyzer, and returned to the body. Each session usually lasts about 4 hours and is done three times a week. Dr. Anwer monitors patients closely to adjust the treatment as needed, ensuring effective waste removal and electrolyte balance.

The Transplant Peritoneal Dialysis Procedure

Peritoneal dialysis uses the lining of the abdomen, or peritoneum, as a natural filter. A catheter is surgically placed in the abdomen, allowing dialysis fluid to flow into and out of the peritoneal cavity. This process can be done at home, either manually several times a day (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) or automatically while the patient sleeps (Automated Peritoneal Dialysis). Dr. Anwer provides thorough training and support for patients choosing this method, ensuring they can perform the procedure safely and effectively.
